The World - What is it Coming To?

The world is changing in drastict ways and if we can't keep up with it, we are going to be swept away. The "Now You Know" movie by Karl Fisch is a huge sucess but what is it? This movie is about what the world was, is ,and will be in the future. The world as we know it is going away every second and we got to go with the flow or be swept away.

The first thing that really caught my eye was that" 25% of the population in China with the highest IQ's than the total population of North America.” This amazed me because I always thought that China was a moderate country when it came to intelligence yet they have more honors students than we have kids. This is insane.

The next thing that really caught my attention was that “China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world.” I think this is shocking because I thought America was the number one English speaking nation in the world. The fact that China will become such a highly influenced country when it comes to languages is remarkable. The world is going to become like the Tower of Babylon, everyone will be speaking the same language very soon.

The third thing about this movie that really got to me was that” Predictions are that by 2013, a supercomputer will be built that exceeds the computation capability of the human brain.” This got me because it is just a piece of mechanical engineering that can change our very beings on this Earth. Imagine, computers knowing all of the thoughts and ideas of people. This is just crazy!

RSS Aggregators and You

What exactly is an RSS Aggregator and what concern of it to you? A RSS Aggregator is an acronym that stand for Really Simple Syndication and what it does is that with a click of a button, you can have information brought to you on a silver platter(almost). Aggergate mean to gather into a mass or a whole. Now that we have the newest evolution of Web technology(web 2.0), we have so much information that we really need to get organized and a Rss Aggergator does just that, it not only gives you tons of information but it also allows you to organize it and read the information that really interest you without going to their website. At wikipedia.com, it said that there was two ways of using RSS Aggerators ,version 1.0 and the convenient version 2.0. Imagine a way that does not require codes and time to find the information that you want, the information comes to you.

There are many different types of RSS Aggergators out there now a days that all you need to do is sign up with them and you can have the world's information to come to you. Bloglines.com is a great example of a rss aggergator; this piece of webware allows you to do more than Google reader. It allows you to access email groups, comics, and even podcast. Another example of a RSS Aggergator is feedreader.com. Feedreader.com is a free downlodable resource that allows the consumer to do the same things as Google reader but it is a lot faster. A third example of a RSS Aggergator is pluck.com. This piece of free webware allows you to do the basic stuff but then, it also allows you to access your favorite channel's websites. There are many different types of RSS Aggergators but this is just to name a few.

RSS Aggergators allow you to" subscribed"to a website but there are different ways that you can do this. There are many buttons out there on these websites that are all based off the blogger.com button. You also have to look out for labels that say things like Google reader or blogger.com. It can be really easy to find these buttons and labels but if you need some help, this is what some of them look like:
These buttons are very common and you can find them either on top of the page or at the bottom. If you can't find one of these icons, you can't subscribe to the website.

There are tons of ways that someone who is starting up a website can add a RSS Aggergator to their website. One way you can do this is to go to Blog'sStreet RSS Discovery. There you can find RSS Aggergators and add them to your website by putting in your website's address and a password. Another way that you can find RSS Aggergator websites is to use a Directory that are completely free to use. Once at a directory all you have to do is search for your favorite topics and subscribe to those websites. A third and final way to find RSS Aggergators is to use search engines like Daypop.com to find RSS Aggergator websites that interest you. These are only a few ways that you can find RSS Aggergators.

My Experience with Picnik.com

I have just discovered the coolest piece of webware ever and just like every piece of webware, it is FREE! Picnik.com is a free photo editor that allows you to take a photo and change it anyway you want to. All you have to do to get started is to sign in, get a photo and you are all set. There is nothing to it. If you want to change the color of the photo, flip the photo even get rid of that annoying red eye, you can. You can create a masterpiece that is all your own and it does not cost you a dime. With the rise of interest rates and annoying taxes, trying to make a photo or even edit one can be a hassle but with technology like picnik.com, we are able to relax and not worry about paying people for our own artwork. Picnik.com is definitely a place that you need to go if you are into photos and photo editing.

There are some things that impressed me more than others on this fantastic piece of webware. First, remember whenever you took a picture and got that annoying red eye and that you had to charge the photoshop extra to get rid of that. That ends today because of webware like picnik.com.When you click on the button called red eye, you can get rid of it for a human or even an animal. Another thing that really impressed me was that you could add writing to your photo. All you have to do is press on the tab called Create and go to text. Once you hit that button, you are able to add whatever you want to the picture. In the old day without webware, you could not add any writing to the picture without ruining the entire photo. There are many things on this website that are great but this is just a few of the things that I really enjoy.

Whenever you look at a piece of software and compare it to the expensive , there are always changes that you think can make the webware a bit better. I think that for Picnik.com, there are a few things that they should add to make this webware a bit better. The first thing that Picnik.com should change is to add patterns to the colors. With patterns and colors combine, the pictures would be more abstract, more creative. I believe that if Picnik.com adds this, the pictures could be more unique. Another thing that Picnik.com could add is that the consumer could be able to make slide shows with their photos. This would be able to show people that making a slide show with their own photos and then mailing it to their love ones easy as 1,2,3! We can make art more interesting with these new characteristics that would make Picnik.com the ultimate piece of webware.

Photo editors like Picnik.com are ususally very expensive but some of them do not have the same features as Picnik.com has. For example, the popular piece of webware called Photoshop is $649.00 for people who do not have a discount but for those who do, it is a ridiculous $199.00. Even though Photoshop has the same functions as Picnik.com and, it is almost triple the price of Picnik.com. Just like Photoshop and Picnik.com ,Microsoft Office Picture Manager is a photo editor and like Picnik.com, it is free and down loadable. Photo editors are getting very expensive and it is out of control. Photo editing should be free to all people but with the technology fade, everything is expensive.

People all over the world are trying out Picnik.com and are loving it! With the new fade of FREE technology, people are hitting the web harder than ever and trying out the latest software like Walt Mossberg of the Wall Street Journal. Walt stated that ,"Congrats to the Picnik.com team. You all Rock!" Obviously Walt really enjoyed this new piece of webware. Another review by Elizabeth West tells us how she enjoyed her experience with this webware and what the world would be like without it. Clearly there are some happy people who love this new piece of webware and hopefully, you will enjoy it as much as they did.

This is my piece that I myself made on Picnik.com. As you noticed, I took a picture of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Once I did that, I tilted my photo very slightly. Then, I added a pink background that is almost a haze. Next, I added text and a picture of a lip. Finally, I added a border around my finish piece and that is how I made my photo my own on Picnik.com.

As a viewer of a new piece of webware such as this, I am quite impressed on how easy this process is. To get a photo, edit it, and call it your own in a matter of minutes, it just amazes me. I give Picnik.com two big thumbs up. I think that I will visit Picnik.com again and again because it is so affordable and if you want to add a little spice to your photo , go to Picnik.com today.

Web 1.0 Vs. Web 2.0

Web 1.0

What is Web 1.0? Web 1.0 was the old way for us to find any information. We had to read everything to find information and when we did find the website that we thought was resourceful, we couldn't view the site without clicking on it. Then, when we wanted to share our stuff with friends unless you mailed them something or called them. What a drag that was not being able to share things on the Internet. According to Wikipedia , Web 1.0 was the old way with dial-up and a 50K bandwidth. Then, there was creating websites. When you created websites during the late 1990's, you had to type in long codes and if you made one little mistake, the website would not be displayed. According to Richard MacManus, not a lot of people made websites because of the long codes. Web 1.0 was yesterday's news and so inefficient that it was making the Internet extinct but with the new Web 2.0, people can interact with the World Wide Web.

Web 2.0
Web 2.0 is now the new way that we can learn about the world around imagine, creating a website with a click of a button. This is not a joke. Web 2.0 can also allow you to collaborate with others so that if you didn't add enough information or made some spelling errors, your partners can help you. Remember having to buy expensive software and then having to program it in which took a long time to do. Now with Web 2.0, we can program web ware with a click of a button. What is webware you ask? Webware is free software that you get from the Internet according to Webopedia . Instead of being just readers, we can now be writers, publishers, and readers thanks to the founder of Web 2.0, Dale Dougherty of O' Reilly Media. Thank you Mr. Dougherty for making the web more interactive. Because Mr. Dougherty created this way to view the web, we can now view websites when we are searching for information on a topic that we need to find.

Webware

Webware is the latest thing in the technology era. With the creation of web 2.0 came along the way to have programs at our fingertips. There are many types of webware that you can find at webware.com. People don't realize that when they use Blogger.com that it is webware but it is and it is a way that we can share our information about a subject to the world. A blog is a website that you can add pictures, articles, and interactive maps to to show people your knowledge about a subject of your choice. Another example of webware is redzee.com. Redzee is a website search engine that actually allows you to view the websites as a screen image. A third example of webware is youtube.com. Youtube is an interactive website that lets you view web videos that people send in.Webware is the wave of the future.
